Frances G. Holt, 89, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 11:12 p.m. EST Monday, March 7, 2011, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, Indiana.
Born in Okaw Township, near Middlesworth, Illinois on April 24, 1921, she was the daughter of Ervin “Winnie” Barnhart and Mary Avis Brown. Frances graduated from the Sparks Business College, Shelbyville, Illinois. She was an office manager for the Stay Right Hair Pin Company, Shelbyville, Illinois; office manager for Bailey Saw Mill & Pallet Company, Robinson, Illinois and Deputy County Treasurer of Crawford County for many years. She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, Oblong; Professional Business Women’s Club and a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. She enjoyed bowling, camping, her family and grandkids.
On March 18, 1948, she married Howard L. Holt, who preceded her in death on April 16, 2008. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one brother Cecil Barnhart; one sister Helen Gill and half sister Lola Murl Barnhart.
Frances is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard & Rachel Holt and Jon & Jill Holt; two daughters and son-in-law, Jackie & Rod Higgins and Nancy Holt & Greg Griffiths; nine grandchildren, Chris Briner & financee Michelle Morrison, Shara & Jim York, Garret Briner & Tracy Fraiser, Aubin Whitmer & Dave Sobczak, Aaron & Jayme Holt, Ryan & Julie Weimer, Lindsey Holt & fiance Brad Hoalt, Jessica Holt and Jensen Holt; four great-grandchildren, Caden Weimer, Trenton Hoalt, Lacey York and Haley Morrison; one great-great-grandson, Ridley Slane and several nieces and nephews.
Rev. Howard Bell will be officiating the funeral service. Private family burial in Mound Cemetery, rural Jasper County, Illinois.
